YOUR FIRST VISIT

Sports chiropractic - your first visit

What happens during my first visit?

We’ll start with an initial physical assessment, which will help identify your injury or condition and allow the chiropractor to form a diagnosis. During the physical assessment, we’ll be looking at your posture, your range of motion, pain points and nerve responses.

In almost all cases, you’ll receive treatment during your first visit. If you are in pain we want to make sure you leave feeling better than you did when you came in. In some rarer cases that involving complex conditions, treatment may begin on the second visit. However, in such cases we’ll discuss this with you at the time of the initial appointment.

How long do sessions last?

The Initial Assessment session will take approximately 45-60 minutes. We will spend the majority of time listening and piecing together the puzzle via your health history, bio-mechanical exam, functional movements, and neurological tests.

Follow-up appointments can last 15, 30 or 45 minutes depending on your needs.

Are there any forms to fill out before the first appointment?

We ask all clients to fill out a digital intake form and questionnaire and send them back to us prior to your Initial Assessment session. The PDF forms will be sent by email in advance.

Please be sure to read each question carefully and be as detailed as possible when answering.

What should I bring to the first appointment?

- Please bring your active or loose clothing, as you will need to move around.
- Bring any recent imaging studies including x-rays, ultrasounds, MRI, CT scans, and any written report.
- List of medications and supplements you are currently taking.
- Make sure you send your intake forms back to us 24 hours before your Initial Assessment Session.

Do I need a doctor’s referral letter?

Patients do not need a referral to be treated. However, some private health insurers require you to get a referral letter from a medical doctor before chiropractic treatment (see next question below).

Can I claim back fees on health insurance?

If you have private health insurance cover, you may be able to receive a full or partial reimbursement of your treatment fees.

Please check your insurance policy or contact your insurer before making an appointment to understand whether you’re entitled to claim back fees and the terms of coverage.

Be sure to check these key things:

1) Does your policy cover chiropractic treatment?

2) Are you required to visit a General Practitioner (GP)?
